(Sold) 1940's The Japanese Government-issued dollar notes was a form of currency superly issued by Imperial Japan during the Japanese occupation of Singapore, Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Brunei between 1942 and 1945. The currency was also referred informally as banana money (Malay: duit pisang), named as such because of the motifs of banana trees on 10 dollar banknotes. The Japanese dollar was in widespread use within the occupied territories where the previous currency became a scarcity. The Japanese dollar was one of several forms of Japanese invasion money issued throughout the then newly expanded Empire of Japan. The 1942 note series contained the text [The Japanese Government] “Promise To Pay The Bearer On Demand”. The 1944 100 dollar replacement note no longer contained this message. Authentic. Condition: Very Good. Self collection @ Choa Chu Kang. Interested, kindly contact or pm me for more details. Thank you for viewing.
