Handpainted, thinly potted and with scallop rims. Nicely decorated in the famille rose palette with phoenix and peony blooms on white ground within an outer border featuring the eight auspicious emblems (Ba Ji Xiang 八吉祥). The reverse is decorated with three discrete floral sprigs. Reverse is unmarked. Circa: late 19th/early 20th Century. Size : 7-1/2" dia (19 cm).
Note: Most unusual to find yellow flowers among the floral sprigs on the reverse of plate. The typical decorations are in pink or pink and blue.
Condition: One spot with a surface chip noted (illustrated). Enamels well preserved, no flaking. Gilt trims on rim are worn in places. No hairline cracks, minor tiny rim frits can be felt when running your finger over the rim. Elsewhere, there are no other condition issues.
