Input: 50k unbalanced TS 1/4" plug - balanced output: 600 XLR jack Features a 1/4" Parallel Pass-through (Link) Circuit Input Attenuation: Switchable (0db, -20db,-40db) - Switchable Ground Lift Professional Power A direct box, or DI box, provides the facility for the direct insertion of an audio signal into a mixer or recorder. Itoffers a variety of DI solutions for live sound and recording applications. You can connect all kinds of audio signals like guitars, keyboards, outboard signal processors and even high-powered speaker output from an amplifier. This unit enables you to tap off the signal from a guitar or bass guitar and pass the signal from the Para Output to the on stage amplifier without affecting the original sound. This can eliminate the need for mixing the guitar amplifier, which in many cases is preferable, especially with bass guitar. Clean Audio The unit is also very useful for connecting unbalanced signals from sources like signals DJ and sub-mixers, effects processors and keyboards to a main PA or recording mixer. The balanced output provides a clean signal at a low level as long as runs of cable are possible. Another benefit from a balanced connection is common mode rejection, which provides cancellation of unwanted sounds (hums and buzzes) while leaving the original signal pure. Direct Insertion of an Instrument to PA System One of the most popular uses of a DI box is getting the signal of the bass guitar to the PA system. Simply put, the low frequencies produced by bass are difficult to mic/record, so use of a DI box is almost always preferable. Versatile Have the capability of tapping off signals from amplifiers, such as the output or guitar amp or power amplifier. You can even connect this unit to the speaker output of a consumer stereo system or boom box --if you want to sample some old records or cassette tapes. This DI box also does a great job in the studio for connecting unbalanced devices. For instance, the output levels of many keyboards are low, so their signals can benefit generally by connecting their unbalanced outputs to the unit which makes the signal to move cleanly without interruption. The signal will be allowed to travel for long distances while benefiting from the low noise and common mode rejection provided by this unit's balanced low-level output. Additional Features All Steel Chassis Input: 1/4" Connector Balanced Output - Male XLR Connector Instrument Input: 50K Unbalanced TS Jack Parallel (Link) Out: 50K Unbalanced TS Jack ATT Switch - Input Attenuation, Switchable (0dB, -20dB, -40dB) Ground - When Engaged, the Ground from the Chassis Detaches from XLR Jack Output: 1/4" Para Out (For Passing Input Signal Through to Stage Amp or Monitor System) Dimension: 4.72'' X 3.01'' X 1.77'' I've bought several now. I play in lots of different situations with a variety of musicians. I though a DI might solve a problem for me, so I bought this cheap one just to see. Yes it fixed my problem and after reading the instructions realized I was constantly coming across issues that could be solved by a DI. I give these away to people. Almost like the johnny appleseed of DIs. Great for hooking up electric guitars or basses directly to the PA. Hooking up a speaker out from a guitar or bass amp directly to a PA. Hooking up 1/4 line outs to xlr or vice versa. Killing noise and hum. Providing isolation. These are not pro quality, but sound decent enough for semi-professional use. They are cheap enough that you won't cry if someone steals one or they break. I've also fixed problems in permanent sound installs with these and just left them behind as a public service. Not a great DI, but a great DI for the money. I used this box to lift a groundloop - my sound problem went from hell to pristine when i use this on the stage side of the FOH snake. Saves the day. Its my opinion that stage box side of the snake should just have these things built right into them. 2v peak-to-peak will not saturate the balance transformers so its got all you need for high and punchy preamps routed to balanced input power amps. I've been using two of these to turn a 1/4" unbalanced (guitar) signal into a balanced (XLR) signal in order to run the cable about 50 feet without introducing noise into the signal path, and it works like a champ. The box doesn't color the sound much at all. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to pick up a decent D.I. at a phenomenal price. I bought 4 of these for my home theater and am very happy with them. The amps for my front three speakers and subwoofer are in the front of my theater and the preamp and other equipment are in the rear. When I ran the 35 feet of RCA cable I had serious 60Hz Hum in my new place. My amps can receive XLR or RCA so I used the four Pyle boxes (with RCA to 1/4" headphone adapters) to convert the unbalanced lines to XLR balanced runs. All hum has been eliminated. These things are pretty heavy for the size, solid construction and shielding. They are pretty simple, very sturdy, and cheap especially with amazon prime availability and shipping. Does exactly what a direct box does and if you need one for yourself, or for set ups where you need a direct box but something that'll do it's money's worth, this is the way to go. I've worked with plenty of these pyle direct boxes, have had a few go out over the course of years, but with our ratio of use compared to transportation and destruction of them, I'd say we got our money's worth. Hence, why I'm not afraid to keep buying them. I bought three of these units for live recording. They allow me to connect the mixer directly to a bass, a guitar and a keyboard while recording live bands. This provides sound isolation in a loud live environment. Plug the guitar pickup output into the DI box 1/4 inch input and plug the output 1/4 inch into the guitar amp. Then plug the DI box XLR output into your mixer or PA input. If recording only with no amp, simply don't use the 1/4 inch output. Hey, its a direct box, it works... what else can you say? I am using it to run my Waldorf Blofeld into the mic inputs on my TASCAM US-1641. Pretty much fixes both the 'quiet output' and 'noisy output' problems with it, and frees up inputs. I plan on getting a few more so i can make use of the other Mic inputs. I've bought several now. I play in lots of different situations with a variety of musicians.
