The MOEN NDI-E Buffalo DI Box For Electric Guitar offers guitarists the ability to split their signal into an unbalanced and a balanced signal. It's a streamlined miniaturized version of the larger well known Buffalo model which has parametric EQ. The NDI-E box converts the incoming unbalanced signal into a balanced signal in order for it to be fed directly into a studio mixing desk/live mixing console. Thanks to the DC9V input, the unbalanced guitar signal is given the appropriate boost that is needed in order to make it powerful enough to be picked up by the mixer's input, without the need to increase signal gain, which can run the risk of introducing unwanted noise. Instead you're left with a delightfully smooth response. XLR balanced or 1/4 unbalanced output. Balanced and unbalanced I/O options for versatile connectivity Ultra low distortion, send bass or guitar signal directly to audio system. Gain switch for boosting low-level signals：-18db / 0 / Guitar sound is greatly improved with Mackie brand mixer on high end frequencies from a bass and 6-string with this product (as with other Direct Input boxes). Ground lift is helpful in reducing some ground loop buzz, but not the hiss in my mixer based system Oh well, ground loops and broadcast radio frequency noise never cease to amaze me in their coming and going. Added it to my pedal-board, to make sure by Jazz Bass is ready for anything.. Very quiet unit, and the added features (gain, ground lift ) are a really nice bonus to an already decent DI. I tested it immediately - connecting it to my mixer (via XLR) and to my amp and cab using the unbalanced out, worked flawlessly, without any hiss or noise. The gain setup button is really nice, if you want to boost your signal, and a ground lift is very important if need to remove noise coming in from grounding issues. I don't use the cab simulation, as it colors the tone and I like it clean. When switching the buttons on and off, there is no noticeable 'click' or 'pop' sound coming through the amp. Make sure to use quality cables Plus - it's tiny! fits right into my pedaltrain... This DI box works very well! For the price, I don't know how I'd NOT have one of these as part of my live rig moving forward. I've had it for a few weeks and have played 4 gigs with it. I run the unbalanced output to my amp and send the balanced XLR to the sound engineer. Live sound engineers have thanked me for saving them the miking of my amp, giving them something easy to work with out front. I can't tell much of a difference in my monitor mixes. If my amp ever blew or wasn't working, I could use this in a pinch and I'd probably be the only person that would hear the difference. It will never replace having a nice amp on stage to overdrive, but so far my OCD, MXR Classic OD and Pinnacle Distortion pedals all sound pretty grand through this little monster. Another commenter noted how clean and quiet it is, and they're right. I might get another one to throw at the beginning of my chain, This is my first purchase, and I'm surprised how solidly it is built and how functional it is while costing so little. For $90, this is worth every penny. This DI box is sheer genius. I cannot believe what they packed into such a small footprint. It comes in an attractive padded small box with a magnetic clasp for easy stowing in your gig bag. The instructions are clearly written and detail all of its excellent functions. You get a quarter inch input with a balanced XLR output (run to the PA or powered speaker) and an unbalanced 1/4 output (run to your guitar/keyboard amp if you have one). There is a ground button on the side and this is my one reservation about this pedal. The ground button, at least on mine is a little "sticky", I think a switch would have been a better choice. This is an active pedal and is powered by any standard 9v barrel connector power supply like the ones you use with most pedals. It does not work without power and does not take a battery (keeps the size small) so don't forget your power supply. The unit has a switch which offers a unity setting as well as a a 18db- setting. As a matter of fact, overall this pedal is incredibly quiet and the signal it passes sounds great. That is an impressive accomplishment for this mini monster. Overall I am both impressed and very happy with this purchase. this DI is so compact that it has become a permanent fixture of my gig bag. I will NEVER do a performance without having it along, either in use or as an emergency item. This item is a home-run and a no-brainer for any musician. Just get it, you will be glad you did!
