he PicoScope 2204A is a 2-channel PC-based oscilloscope (PP906 supplied with two probes) - a compact, passport-sized alternative to big benchtop instruments. Now you can have a 10 MHz, 100MS/s instrument that fits in your laptop bag! Perfect for engineers’ traveling toolkits, they are also suited to a wide range of benchtop needs including design, test, education, service, monitoring, fault finding, and repair. PicoScope 6 software is supplied free with the unit. It offers high-end features like serial decoding and mask limit testing included free as standard – not an optional extra like other manufacturers. New functions are regularly added too in the free upgrades, optimized with the help of feedback. The PicoScope 2204A is made in Europe by Pico Technology, a UK-based manufacturer of high-precision PC-based oscilloscopes and automotive diagnostics equipment. Founded in 1991, their PicoScope models now all include an integrated function generator or arbitrary waveform generator, sophisticated triggering, automatic measurements with statistics, a Fast Fourier transform spectrum analysis mode, waveform math calculations, mask limit testing, and serial decoding for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN, and FlexRay. These include pulse width, windowed and dropout triggers to help you find and capture your signal quickly. Most digital oscilloscopes still use an analog trigger architecture based on comparators. This can cause time and amplitude errors that cannot always be calibrated out. The use of comparators often limits the trigger sensitivity at high bandwidths and can also create a long trigger re-arm delay. For over 20 years Pico have been pioneering the use of full digital triggering using the actual digitized data. This reduces trigger errors and allows our oscilloscopes to trigger on the smallest signals, even at the full bandwidth. All triggering is digital, resulting in high threshold resolution with programmable hysteresis and optimal waveform stability. On selected models, the reduced re-arm delay provided by digital triggering, together with segmented memory, allows the capture of events that happen in rapid sequence. At the fastest timebase, rapid triggering can capture a new waveform every 2 microseconds until the buffer is full.
