In 1918, sovereigns were issued at the Royal Mint in London, the Australian branch mints in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, The Ottawa mint in Canada and the Bombay Mint in India.
The obverse features the Bare Head facing left portrait of King George V by Australian designer Brtram Mackennal. His initials B.M.are set in the truncated neck. The coin bears the inscription GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX: F.D.IND:IMP:
The reverse of this 1918 gold sovereign features an engraving of St George and the Dragon as designed by Benedetto Pistrucci. The S mint mark in the ground below the dragon shows the coin was minted in Sydney.
