This is a watch that you don't often see as it was produced for a few years, from 1957 to 1962, in a small quantity of probably 5 or 6 thousand pieces in stainless steel (over 4 thousand pieces), and yellow gold. I am offering here for sale is one in substantial 18 karat yellow gold in superb condition. The 18K yellow gold 35mm diameter case is in superb condition. This is a three part screw-back case with only minor scratches or wear marks visible to the naked eye. The watch has been quite well cared for and has received no long-term regular use from all previous owners. The case is noticeably heavy and bears the 18K hallmarks along with the case number A745278. A stunning white/ silver dial in classic layout with date at 3 o’clock and subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The dial is in excellent original condition and has had some careful retouching by previous owner. The dial is signed, with “Jaeger LeCoultre, Automatic” The dial specification is complete with the rarer specification alternating black on white (for even days) and white on black (for odd days) date wheel. The high grade original movement is in superb condition. The movement used in this watch is the high grade calibre P813 beating at 19,800 vibrations per hour, introduced in 1956 which is a superb 17 jewel example of a classic bumper automatic (many already know that this was one of the first automatic wind systems made for wrist watches with the use of a rotating pendulum that operate on a semi-circular arc, at the end of each swing cycle the rotor “bumped” off of a spring and traveled back in the opposite direction, thus the name, bumper automatic). A very high quality and matching padded veritable lizard strap has been fitted with a non-JLC buckle. This is an important model from one of the world's finest watch makers, particularly for vintage pieces, JLC. The very fine early bumper automatic movement, matched with the beauty, stylish and pure class of this watch, makes it a highly sought after vintage model, especially when it is in this condition. This watch has everything – JLC, 18K, automatic, mid-50’s charm, large diameter white dial, date and sub seconds, all in superb original condition ! I used to own more 30 models of collectible vintage watches including Rolex, Vacheron, JLC, Universal, Breitling, Patek, etc, but have sold almost all and this is my second last piece of my vintage collection. I saw watch sellers listed this 18K watch for GBP3,500 (USD4,500) but my price is only S$4000.
