Thanks to a fellow carouseller I learnt this is a Kora, from West Africa:
Kora is a 21 string lute bridge harp built from a large calabash cut in half and covered with cow skin to make a resonator with a long hardwood neck.

Beautiful ethno antique piece, quite unique. Handcrafted wood motifs. Quite old, but no damage. Carefully shipped from Europe. Like an exotic native banjo or guitar from Africa. Probably skin face is also a drum. I can't play it, used for display decoration only.
