This is an antique straits Chinese porcelain bowl measuring 16 cm in diameter. Finely painted with a phoenix and sprigs of peonies in full bloom. Symbols of abundance and wealth, these were favoured by the peranakans in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This particular bowl bears the makers mark: Cheng yi tai zao. Some minor chips at the scalloped rim commensurate with the age of this piece.
