You'd probably recognise this plant from various interior decor magazines or Pinterest photos, because they are one of the most "trendy" and "modern" looking houseplants out there. Adding to the fact that they are very low-maintenance, it's no wonder the rubber tree plant (Ficus elastica) is so popular amongst home owners and office workers! Place it at a corner where it receives bright but indirect sunlight, and spray it with water (soil area where the roots are) everyday to keep it healthy. The leaves enjoy misting as well as it helps clean off dirt resting on the surface, or you can also use a damp cloth to wipe the leaves from time to time. If the leaves turn yellow, brown and then fall off, it means you're watering it too much ;) There are even a couple different methods for creating new rubber tree plant cuttings. The simplest is to take a small branch from a healthy tree and put it in good potting soil or water and let it root. You'll have another rubber tree plant in no time! You can also encourage branching by removing the top growing tip and new shoots will begin to form and branch out. This variety of 'Black Burgundy', sometimes also called 'Black Prince' is a mesmerising variety with near black reddish leaves and with a shiny surface. Definitely a good fit for modern interiors and homes ;) Ceramic indoor pot measures approx 28.5cmA x 26.5cmH Black Burgundy measures approx 1mH from ground *Handmade pinewood plant stand photographed is not included, but available for purchase.
