US Tank Battles in North Africa and Italy 1943-45 (Armor At War Series) by Steven J. Zaloga, 72 pages, Concord Publication *Vintage & Hard to Find* (World War 2 Military History Non-Fiction Reference)
Very rare *specialised* pictorial book pertaining to the subject title. This is not the normal run-on-the-mill war book. Specialised... bcos they contain vast amount of rare and mostly unpublished photos that are screened and curated by professional editors on the subject matter extracted from archives of private collectors and wartime combat journalists who ran the ground alongside soldiers. You get to see all perspectives up close. Therefore, what you get are clear pictures and reliable, detailed and compelling captions. Book is worded in a way that expect readers to know some background of the war that the book is covering. The nature of photos are raw and can be quite graphic, ie, in the thick of action that may cause loss of life, dead decomposed bodies, etc. As such, this book can bring out all sorts of emotions from the awe of the machinery and advances in technology working together with soldiers to the fear, pain, suffering, desperation, jubilance, relief faced by the soldiers as the tide turns in or against their favour. This book is a great reference for modellers to learn, understand and obtain inspirational ideas based on the real life photos about how to weather their models, the markings on the models and meaning, deployment stance of men and machines in action and at ease, damage pictures, equipment modifications, vehicle variants, support vehicles, ammo & aux equipment placement, how to camouflage the model beyond painting, terrain effects, textures and natural features, useful when planning for a landscaped diorama with ideas that can be reaped from the many dynamic war time environments showcased by the photos.
